Description

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Adelaide Buildings team. This role is ideal for an experienced HVAC engineer who enjoys leading projects, developing client relationships, and working as part of a nationally connected team.

Based in Adelaide, you will work closely with our Mechanical leadership team in Melbourne, giving you access to technical specialists, major project opportunities, and broader career development pathways across Australia.

We are seeking someone who can work independently across a diverse range of projects while effectively managing competing priorities and project deadlines. You will regularly engage with clients and project stakeholders and play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

This position offers the opportunity to further develop your technical, project delivery and client leadership skills while building a rewarding career with a Tier 1 global consulting organisation.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Develop HVAC engineering designs, including heat load calculations, equipment selection, plant sizing, reticulation systems, coordination and documentation.

  • Lead and manage projects from concept development and planning through to detailed design, construction and commissioning.

  • Apply strong technical expertise to ensure successful project delivery and quality outcomes.

  • Represent Stantec in client-facing engagements, building trusted relationships and identifying opportunities for repeat business.

  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, builders, project managers and end users to deliver efficient and practical design solutions.

  • Manage HVAC design projects in accordance with relevant codes, standards and Stantec quality systems.

  • Contribute to project reviews, design workshops and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.

  • Work collaboratively with mechanical teams across Adelaide, Melbourne and the broader national business.

To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • A degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Approximately 7 years' experience in HVAC design consulting within the building services industry.

  • Experience delivering projects across sectors such as healthcare, commercial, education, defence, data centres or other complex building environments.

  • Strong knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC), Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards.

  • Experience using Revit and other industry-standard design software.

  • Demonstrated project management and project delivery experience.
