Our water group has secured multiple long term framework contracts and significant career defining major projects with key water authority clients across Australia and locally in South-East Queensland.

About the role:

Stantec has been successful in securing the Superintendent Services contract for the Aura and Harmony External Water Supply and Sewerage Infrastructure project and wants to engage a Superintendent’s Representative to be part of the Superintendent team to work on site in the Sunshine Coast . This Superintendent Representative position is an approximately a 2-year fixed term contract and Stantec aims to enter into a subcontract agreement with a proprietary limited company for this role. The successful person must be set up as a contractor and will be contracted to Stantec.

This is a contract position starting May 2023 with an anticipated contract end date of March 2025. Being a site-based position, it is anticipated that approximately 50% of the work will be performed at the construction site and 50% will be site office based. With a Monday to Friday work week with normal working hours from 7AM to 5PM with additional overtime if/as required.

You will be joining a team the consists of a Superintendent, three Superintendent Representatives, a Quality Inspector and an Administrative Assistant.

The duties of the Superintendent Representative will include:

  • Perform daily quality control and assurance inspections, auditing for compliance of the construction works with the project specifications

  • Perform regular environmental and WHS surveys working closely with the Stantec Environmental and WHS team members

  • Perform review of project documentation including contractor management plans and design drawings for compliance with the project specifications

  • Manage communication with stakeholders including the Client and the Contractor

  • Taking (site) meeting minutes remaining an impartial team member

  • Providing input into the monthly reporting and progress claim approval process

  • Provide input into management of variation claims

  • Review and approval of Inspections Test Plans

  • Management of defects

  • Provide support during dispute resolution

About the Project:

Stantec’s client intends to engage a D&C contractor for the delivery of the Aura and Harmony External Water Supply and Sewerage Infrastructure project.

This primarily greenfield site project has 3 distinctive portions which include:

  • The Harmony Water project will include building a new water reservoir at Tanawha and installing 2.6km of new water pipes from the reservoir to Harmony estate in Palmview.

  • The Aura Water Project includes construction of a new water reservoir and installation of 12km of new water pipeline from the Ewen Maddock Water Treatment Plant to Aura in Caloundra South.

  • The Aura Sewer Project will include installing a new sewer pump station and 14kms of new sewer pipe to transfer sewage to our Kawana Sewage Treatment Plant.

All portions of the works include open-cut as well as trenchless pipelaying methodology (HDD and microtunnelling).

To be successful for this role you'll bring:

  • Tertiary Qualification in relevant Engineering field preferably Civil

  • Solid experience in the construction of large size in-ground pipelines using open cut and trenchless construction method

  • Approximately 10 to 15 years’ work experience with a solid site-based / field experience

  • Ability to remain impartial and make judgments based on the contract documentation

  • Able to read and understand Primavera P6 Program

  • Sound knowledge of drawings and specifications interpretation

  • Knowledge of contract management is preferred

  • Own vehicle – 4WD with orange hazard warning light and (portable) UHF radio

  • Professional indemnity and public liability insurances
