About the role:
We are currently seeking a motivated Accountant Assistant to join our dynamic APAC finance team based in Melbourne. We are ideally looking for seasoned Assistant Accountant to provide finance and accounting support for the Australian business operations. This is achieved by ensuring accurate financial reporting, adhering to internal controls, including Stantec’s accounting policies and procedures, and compliance with taxation and other governance requirements.

Day to day tasks would involve:
Fixed Asset management
Preparation of bank reconciliations
Cashflow
Monthly journal preparation
Assisting with intercompany invoicing and monthly reporting
Reconciling and managing prepayments
Completing balance sheet reconciliations
Assisting with fringe benefit analysis
Assisting with expense analysis
Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures
Other duties as reasonably required
Qualifications
To be successful for this role you'll need:
Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance, or working towards CPA or CA
Knowledge of IFRS principles coupled with significant experience in financial or management accounting
Significant experience in ERP systems, preferably Oracle
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Solid understanding of SOX principles and Internal controls is highly desirable
Organisational skills to prioritise work within the team to meet business needs and deadlines
Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of reports
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills to interact with a broad range of audiences in multiple countries.
