About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Acoustic Consultant to join our busy and friendly Acoustic team in Melbourne. We are currently working on a wide range of health care, commercial, retail, defence, industrial and educational building projects.

The Project Technical Lead, Acoustics will be a cultural, technical and strategic leader within the Acoustic Group. Operate in the Task Manager (TM) function and Project Manager (PM) function (as required) on projects and provide required support to staff assisting on your projects to ensure clear direction, acceptable financial outcome, QA adherence, risk management and team morale. Tailor personal marketing efforts to suit Group workload requirements. Comply with QA procedures and proactively complete all required reporting as required by the Group Leader and the Stantec Project Management Framework (PMF).

You’ll also play an important role in actively managing projects and client relationships.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Build and develop your professional profile both internally and externally by consistently demonstrating an ability to successfully deliver projects. Earn the respect of your colleagues and Clients.

  • Contribute to Group strategic direction – Assist Group Leader in developing a strategic plan.

  • Proactive marketing of company services to obtain new commissions and develop industry relationships.

  • Operate as either a Project Manager or a Task Manager on projects, complete projects in terms of program, gross margin, risk management (contractual & technical) and overall Client satisfaction.

  • Strive to develop an area of technical expertise which is recognised and respected by colleagues. Assist and develop others in this area.

  • Skillfully and appropriately delegate tasks to resources and manage the process to ensure successful outcomes.

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and proactively engage with your discipline in other offices.

  • Adhere to Stantec professional standards, ethics and Stantec quality procedures

To be successful in this role you'll need:

  • Excellent Acoustic technical experience and consistently demonstrating an ability to successfully deliver projects.

  • Show a genuine interest in investing personal time and effort in the training, support and development of other colleagues.

  • Hold a professional qualification in engineering, with approximately 10 years experience ideally gained in the buildings sector.

  • Local knowledge and experience in the Melbourne market would be an advantage

  • Contribute to the development of younger Acoustic Consultants.

  • Work independently on a wide range of projects with an ability to manage workload on several projects at different stages of completion.

  • Good consulting skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
