Lead end-to-end delivery excellence in Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Geology through leading the development of innovation, best-practice development, knowledge transfer and integration in the Stantec business. You will also provide input to strategic direction, client and project pursuits primarily within the New Zealand business and work with the Practice, Market and Growth Leaders to define strategy and build our reputation, skills, knowledge and business.
The Practice Leader is not a stand-alone position, it is a series of value-adding duties on top of your substantive position as either a Principal Geotechnical Engineer or Principal Engineering Geologist with an expectation that the duties will take, on average, up to no more than 8-16 hours per week. The additional duties are accounted for within the utilisation target of your main technical role.
You'll join a team of geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists where you will have the opportunity to contribute to the national geotechnical group and global community. You’ll be involved in a range of engineering projects in transportation, and water and wastewater infrastructure throughout New Zealand and Asia Pacific.
Your day-to-day activities would involve:
Practice Leader role:
Co-ordinate the development and use of materials that improve the accuracy and efficiency of service delivery
Co-ordinate regular communication with fellow practitioners across the New Zealand business
Lead or participate in Communities of Practice
Identify technical skill gaps and proactively support career development opportunities for the discipline practitioners
Work closely with Group Leaders and Project Managers to resource bids and projects effectively
Track Geotechnical and Engineering Geology practitioners and skill levels of staff; and assist Team Leaders in developing recruitment and planning strategies, including engaging with prospective employees in the industry.
Assist in managing business risk through the selection of practice reviewers
