About the role:

  • We are looking for a team player to strengthen our Electrical Discipline across New Zealand and deliver our existing backlog.

  • You will be working on our industrial, power, hydro, and infrastructure projects for local clients in our community, joining a Christchurch-based team that delivers challenging, multimillion-dollar and multi-disciplinary projects across New Zealand, North America, Australia, and the Pacific. This offers a good balance between strengthening your core skills and taking increasing leadership and responsibility for work - all while also learning from Stantec’s local and global experts and furthering your development.

  • You will be responsible for delivering Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls and Automation work packages, working together with Graduate Engineers under the guidance of a Principal Engineer. You will collaborate with Mechanical and Process engineers on multidisciplinary projects.

  • You will have client-facing opportunities and site work which offers variety in daily tasks.

  • This is an exciting opportunity for a professional engineer with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects and working collaboratively with clients and colleagues.

  • You will be supported by a team of Electrical Designers, CAD and Graduate Engineers.

What you need to bring

  • Our preferred candidate for this role will have technical experience in aspects of Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls and Automation Engineering for infrastructure and industrial projects, preferably with a focus in water and wastewater.

  • You will have proven experience in managing your own deliverables or those within your discipline.

  • An understanding and experience with L.V. power systems and design in NZ or Australia.

  • You will understand Electrical CAD software requirements.

  • You will have strong communication skills and the ability to participate in client-facing meetings.

  • You will be experienced dealing with a range of stakeholders including local authorities, clients, and commercial companies.

  • Key requirements are a BE Electrical or equivalent, with ideally at least 7 years professional experience in the consulting or engineering industry.

  • CPEng or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
