Stantec's successful Survey & Spatial team is currently seeking an experienced Surveyor to join the team in Wellington.

The role

Stantec is recruiting an experienced Surveyor to join the team based in our Petone office and work with a group of technical professionals to deliver innovative solutions to our clients. We currently have many varied and interesting projects for experienced surveyors to come in and hit the ground running.

Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivery of survey projects in Wellington with the potential to work for short term assignments out of our other offices based throughout New Zealand

  • Practical use of Leica/Trimble robotic total stations and GPS units

  • Undertake a variety of surveys including but not limited to engineering and cadastral surveys

  • The use of survey and design software including AutoCAD and 12D

  • Collaborating with team and project staff

  • Maintaining continued professional development

  • Commitment to application of work health and safety principals

Qualifications

About you

To be successful you will display:

  • Degree level qualifications in Surveying or equivalent relevant experience

  • Minimum 10 years working experience as a surveyor

  • Registration with the Cadastral Surveyor’s Licensing Board or equivalent will be highly regarded

  • Ability to lead a team of surveyors to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Knowledge, understanding, and application of technical measurement techniques and technologies.

  • Working knowledge in the use of Survey computer programs & Microsoft Office.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, broad communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Adept at working within a team environment coupled with a positive and proactive approach

  • Well-developed report writing with excellent communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • The position includes both office and fieldwork and the applicant must be physically able to stand and work in the field including in remote areas.
