About the role
With a strong workload and exciting growth plans, we are seeking a Senior Economist to join our team based in Sydney. Reporting to our Principal Practice Leader Economics, you will be involved in planning for growth by building client relationships, providing market leading advice and services. You will have project development responsibility and will work with other team members to develop their skills. Importantly, you will play a key collaborative role alongside our design teams, providing invaluable support in developing funding and business cases and in supporting planning and other consenting applications through sound economic arguments.
Day to day tasks would involve:
Project management for the delivery of a diverse range of economic appraisals and assessments
Undertaking of cost benefit analysis in accordance with national and international best practice
Production of business cases in accordance with local, state, and national guidelines
Supporting environmental or social impact assessments and projects undertaken within the broader Company
Ensuring Company and client commitments and expectations are managed appropriately within given time frames and budget.
Proposal preparation and participation in business development activities
Qualifications
To be successful for this role you'll need:
Bachelor's Degree (or combined degree) in Economics, Planning, Finance, Mathematics, and or/ Geography.
4 - 6 years of combined consulting and/or industry experience in economics work
Demonstrated application of Cost Benefit Analysis to infrastructure development projects essential; experience within the Transport, Infrastructure, Environment, Water sectors seen as an asset
Previous experience in socio-economic or social impact assessment within Australia
Excellent technical writing and lateral thinking.
Experience of bidding for and winning projects is highly advantageous.
Project management experience, in particular management of time work-plans and budgets.
