Civil 3D Designer - ( 2600008C )

Description

Civil 3D Designer – Water

Stantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting. The diverse perspectives of our partners and interested parties drive us to think beyond what’s previously been done on critical issues like climate change, digital transformation, and future-proofing our cities and infrastructure.

We are designers, engineers, scientists, project managers, and strategic advisors. We innovate at the intersection of community, creativity, and client relationships to advance communities everywhere, so that together we can redefine what’s possible.

The opportunity

Stantec’s Water team in New Zealand has an impressive portfolio of successful projects that benefit communities nationwide and beyond, with significant contributions to international work. Our water focus covers the management of drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and groundwater as a collective resource. Dams and hydropower are a key focus, driving resilience and renewable energy solutions. Tackling our water challenges is crucial, and our diverse local network includes over 360 water specialists dedicated to innovation.

We have a great opportunity for a Civil 3D Designer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across New Zealand and the wider Asia Pacific region.

This role is suited to a hands-on designer with solid Civil 3D capability, experience working on water or utilities projects, and an interest in BIM-enabled delivery would be a great advantage. You will work closely with civil engineers, BIM leads, and multi-disciplinary project teams to produce high-quality models and construction documentation.

Day to day tasks will include:

  • Develop and maintain Civil 3D models and drawings for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure

  • Create and manage alignments, surfaces, pipe networks, profiles, corridors, and quantities

  • Produce detailed design and construction documentation in accordance with project and client requirements

  • Manage data shortcuts and model referencing within Civil 3D environments

  • Support delivery of pressure and gravity pipeline networks, pump stations, and site civil works

  • Assist engineers with design development from concept through to detailed design and IFC

  • Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve clashes and design interfaces

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent practical experience

  • 3–6 years’ experience as a Civil Designer or Civil 3D Technician/Designer

  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D

  • Experience delivering water, wastewater, or utilities projects

  • Ability to work independently on design tasks with guidance from senior staff

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation quality

  • Exposure to BIM delivery on infrastructure projects (ideal but not essential)

What we offer

At Stantec, we take your growth and fulfilment seriously. We’re proud to offer many supportive benefits, including:

  • Professional development and support

  • Flexible working arrangements, including purchasing up to an extra four weeks of leave and provision for school term contracts, part-time, and job sharing
