About the role
The Commercial Analyst will be a part of Stanwell’s expanding Growth and Future Energy Team, responsible for the development and implementation of Stanwell’s future energy portfolio. This role will provide project modelling and analysis to help evaluate and qualify new technologies that will play a critical role in helping facilitate the integration of Stanwell’s existing power generation portfolio with the company’s expanding renewable generation portfolio, helping Queensland move towards a greener and cleaner future.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Undertake conceptual and detailed analytical evaluations on a range of prospective business opportunities. These include:
- Asset valuation and asset optimisation modelling;
- Long-term revenue evaluation;
- Energy portfolio optimisation;
- Economic assessments of different technologies; and
- Power purchase agreement pricing.
- Produce logical, well-reasoned analysis to a wide range of market and Stanwell outcomes, including recommended courses of action and rationale.
- Consider a range of approaches to identify, evaluate and conceptualise potential solutions to requests and ensure outcomes are presented succinctly and appropriately for the audience.
Based at Brisbane CBD, this is a permanent full-time opportunity reporting to the Commercial Manager of Business Origination and Innovation.
About you
We are looking for someone with a minimum of three years’ experience in the energy and/or mining sector and proven financial modelling experience.
Other skills and experience required include:
- Degree in Economics, Commerce, Finance, Mathematics, or related field (essential).
- In depth understanding of macro trends, associated energy markets and their respective influence on the electricity market.
- An understanding of financial derivative instruments and their application to electricity and related markets.
- Excellent work management skills to ensure the completion of multiple and diverse projects and tasks of differing priorities, under externally imposed short deadlines.
- Strong computer skills - Advanced spreadsheet modelling experience, including financial and project modelling, SQL / data query writing (desirable) and Python and PowerBI development (desirable).
