About the role

This is a fixed‑term opportunity located in Brisbane (with possible extension), to meet some immediate resourcing requirements and provide parental leave cover with a full handover.

The Senior Tax Advisor works closely with the Tax Manager, tax team members, and the wider business to deliver Stanwell’s tax compliance and reporting obligations, and customer‑focused tax advice to the business.

This role has flexibility to accommodate a range of experience. It would suit someone with a strong foundation as a tax specialist keen to progress their career with mentoring from an experienced tax manager. We would equally welcome applications from someone with a well-developed skill set who can “hit the ground running”.

Key activities include:

  • Prepare income tax compliance and reporting, including year-end tax provisions
  • Support GST, FBT, PAYG and other indirect tax obligations (with technical support as needed)
  • Provide tax advice and prepare technical position papers on various business initiatives and projects, and support post‑transaction activities.
  • Assist the team improve tax systems, processes and controls.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience working in a tax role in a large corporate and/or large chartered accounting firm, with exposure to complex business arrangements.
  • Solid experience in preparing Australian taxation compliance (ideally income tax, tax provisions, and indirect taxes) in a large corporate environment.
  • Exposure to, and ideally hands-on experience using, tax compliance software such as Thomson Reuters OneSource Corporate Tax.
  • Experience and technical skill in researching and advising on Australian tax matters.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and professional association membership (e.g CA/CPA).
  • A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail.
