Life at Steadfast

Steadfast is built on a simple belief: none of us are as good as all of us. It shapes how we work, how we support our brokers and partners, and how we show up for each other every day.

Our Together values guide everything we do, we listen, we collaborate, we include, and we back each other to succeed. As Australia’s largest general insurance broker network, we help businesses and communities feel supported, protected, and confident in the moments that matter. When you join Steadfast, you become part of a team where your ideas are welcomed, your well-being matters, and your growth is genuinely encouraged.

Your new role at Steadfast

We are looking for a Financial Accountant who enjoys solving problems, creating clarity, supporting others, building trusted relationships, and improving systems with someone who brings curiosity, care and a collaborative mindset to their work.

You will work closely with our Senior Finance Manager's, Operations teams, and key internal stakeholders to strengthen processes, support accurate reporting, integrate acquisitions, and enhance financial insights across the group. You will bring your technical accounting expertise and just as importantly your ability to listen, collaborate, and create an environment where people feel comfortable raising challenges early. That is how we live our Together values.

What your days may look like

You may start your morning by checking in with the Finance and Operations teams, reviewing month‑end priorities or any emerging issues across your portfolio of investee entities.

By midday, you could be deep in financial analysis, variance review, tax preparation, or balance sheet reconciliations, turning complexity into clarity and shaping insights that support confident business decisions.

In the afternoon, you might be partnering with operational leaders, supporting due diligence activities, integrating the accounting for a new acquisition, or progressing one of the continuous improvement initiatives you are involved in.

No two days will look the same, but every day you will be contributing to work that has real impact across our network and the communities we support.

The work you will lead and shape

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Create: Strengthen financial reporting frameworks, month‑end processes, and tax compliance workflows.
  • Collaborate: Partner with Operations, Finance and senior leaders across the business to support high‑quality financial outcomes.
  • Challenge: Analyse results, identify variances and highlight emerging trends or risks.
  • Deliver: Own key aspects of month‑end, half‑year and year‑end reporting with accuracy and accountability.
  • Support: Provide accounting and tax guidance to investees and assist with due diligence for transactions.

You will also:

  • Assist with month‑end financial reporting, including reviewing investee data and preparing commentary.
  • Prepare tax returns, tax journals and compliance obligations using CTS software.
  • Support the integration of new acquisitions into the finance framework.
  • Review group consolidated data and prepare group balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement and contribute to finance‑related projects (e.g., software implementations or accounting standard changes).
  • Assist with ad‑hoc projects and tasks as required.

What you will bring

  • Degree qualified and CA or CPA accreditation.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a relevant accounting role.
  • High level of professionalism and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and meet deadlines with confidence.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • Experience with SAP (desirable).
  • Prior experience in a Big 4 or mid‑tier chartered firm is preferred.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to build trusted relationships while working autonomously when needed.

If you’re not sure you meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply — we value potential and diverse experiences.

Why Steadfast?

You will join a team that genuinely believes we are stronger together. You will be supported by leaders who want you to grow, colleagues who value your perspective, and a culture built on respect, inclusion, and shared success. Here, your contribution matters and your voice is heard.

Our benefits program is designed to support you through the moments that matter most — at work, at home, and everywhere in between. This includes:

  • Generous leave entitlements
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • Wellbeing resources
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • A range of insurance offerings
  • Access to meaningful learning and development opportunities

Most importantly, you’ll be joining a workplace where people feel safe to be themselves. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences, because we know that when we bring different perspectives together, we do our best work and create a place where everyone can thrive.
