This opportunity is with Miramar Underwriting Agency, a general insurance underwriting agency that provides business insurance solutions tailored to the client needs of general insurance brokers. Your new role at Miramar
As an Assistant Property Underwriter, you will support experienced underwriters while building your own technical capability. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in accounting or financial services who has a strong analytical mindset and is looking to begin a career in insurance.
You will work closely with internal teams, brokers and partners to deliver high-quality underwriting and service outcomes, while developing strong industry and stakeholder relationships.
What your days may look like
Your day may begin reviewing new business submissions and renewal priorities alongside the underwriting team. You will assist with preparing quotes and ensuring documentation aligns with underwriting guidelines.
Throughout the day, you will collaborate with brokers and internal stakeholders, process policy documentation and support operational tasks such as data entry and maintaining records.
You will also gain exposure across different products and teams through cross-training opportunities, helping you to build a well-rounded understanding of the business.
The work you will lead and shape
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Underwrite new business, renewals and endorsements within authority levels
- Prepare and issue premium quotations in line with company guidelines
- Deliver exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain accurate policy records and documentation
- Support the underwriting team with operational and administrative tasks
- Assist in managing renewals, submissions and deadlines
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships
You may also:
- Develop underwriting processes and tools to improve efficiency and consistency
- Maintain policy systems, documentation and underwriting records
- Build technical capability, broker relationships and market insights
- Lead smaller initiatives, analysis tasks and continuous improvements
- Prepare reports, recommendations and supporting documentation for decision-making
What You will Bring
- Experience in insurance or financial services
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident communication and relationship-building ability
- Analytical mindset, ideally with an accounting background
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Motivation to learn and grow within the insurance industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
