Life at Steadfast

Steadfast is built on a simple belief: none of us are as good as all of us. It shapes how we work, how we support our brokers and partners, and how we show up for each other every day.

Our Together values guide everything we do, we listen, we collaborate, we include, and we back each other to succeed. As Australia’s largest general insurance broker network, we help businesses and communities feel supported, protected and confident in the moments that matter. When you join Steadfast, you become part of a team where your ideas are welcomed, your wellbeing matters, and your growth is genuinely encouraged.

Your new role at Steadfast

We are seeking a Risk and Compliance Program Lead who enjoys strengthening systems, creating clarity and partnering with the business to uplift capability.

This is a lead role with a strong business partnering and operational focus. You will bring deep technical expertise in AFSL obligations, risk and compliance frameworks, and control environments, alongside a collaborative mindset and ability to influence meaningful change.

You will lead the design and execution of our network compliance review program, working closely with Network Brokers and Subsidiary Businesses to assess control effectiveness and drive practical, sustainable uplift.

A key focus of this role is to drive continual improvement in compliance maturity — ensuring consistent, effective practices across the Steadfast Group. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, translating regulatory expectations into clear operational outcomes, while constructively challenging where needed.

What your days may look like

You may start your day connecting with stakeholders across the network, aligning on priorities and discussing emerging risks or opportunities.

Through the morning, you might be leading a structured compliance review — assessing adherence to AFSL obligations, evaluating control design and effectiveness, and engaging stakeholders in practical, risk-based discussions.

By midday, you could be translating findings into clear insights — identifying gaps, root causes and expected standards, and shaping recommendations that are both pragmatic and actionable.

In the afternoon, you may partner with business leaders, brokers or compliance peers to guide remediation activities, ensuring improvements are embedded into day-to-day operations.

No two days look the same, but every day contributes to strengthening risk culture and compliance maturity across the Steadfast network.

The work you will lead and shape

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Leading: The design and execution of risk-based, operational compliance review programs
  • Partnering: Working closely with Network Members and Subsidiary businesses to embed compliance into day-to-day operations
  • Assessing: Alignment to AFSL obligations and evaluating the design and effectiveness of key controls
  • Challenging: Identifying control gaps, testing practices and driving accountability for remediation
  • Advising: Providing clear, commercially pragmatic and technically sound guidance
  • Influencing: Engaging stakeholders to strengthen risk culture and uplift compliance maturity
  • Connecting: Identifying systemic themes and informing continuous improvement across the network

You may also:

  • Refine and enhance compliance frameworks, methodologies and tools
  • Provide input on regulatory interpretation and emerging obligations
  • Support capability uplift through targeted training and guidance
  • Deliver clear and concise reporting to stakeholders and leadership

What You will Bring

  • Strong experience in risk, compliance or audit within an AFSL-regulated environment
  • Deep understanding of AFSL obligations and group licence frameworks
  • Demonstrated capability in designing and delivering compliance review programs
  • Experience assessing control design and operating effectiveness within operational environments
  • A strong partnering mindset, with the ability to embed compliance into day-to-day practices
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear, practical and operationally focused actions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and constructively challenge
  • A risk-based, analytical mindset with sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Relevant qualifications in law, commerce, finance or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)

If you are not sure you meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply, we value potential and diverse experiences.

Why Steadfast?

You will join a team that genuinely believes we are stronger together. You will be supported by leaders who want you to grow, colleagues who value your perspective, and a culture built on respect, inclusion and shared success. Here, your contribution matters and your voice is heard.

Our benefits program is built to support you through the moments that matter most, whether you're at work, at home, or anywhere life takes you. This includes generous leave entitlements, flexible work options, wellbeing resources, an employee assistance program and a range of insurance offerings that help you feel supported and protected. You will also have access to meaningful learning and development opportunities that help you build capability, explore new ideas and grow your career with confidence.

Most importantly, you will be joining a workplace where people feel safe to be themselves. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences because we know that when we bring different perspectives together, we do our best work and create a place where everyone can thrive.
