Your new role at Steadfast
We are looking for an Assistant Finance Manager who enjoys solving complex problems, creating clarity from financial data, supporting others, strengthening processes, and partnering with stakeholders someone who brings curiosity, care and a collaborative mindset to their work.
You will work closely with our Senior Finance Manager, Operations, M&A, Legal and external audit partners to deliver accurate financial reporting, strengthen governance, support strategic decisions and enhance our group financial framework. You will bring strong technical accounting capability along with the ability to engage stakeholders, ask thoughtful questions, and foster an environment of open communication and continuous improvement.
What your days may look like
You may start your morning reviewing group consolidation results, preparing variance commentary or supporting the team with month‑end priorities.
By midday, you could be deep in financial modelling, impairment reviews, budgeting and forecasting, or contributing insights to support investment decisions and business cases.
In the afternoon, you might be partnering with M&A teams on due diligence, meeting with auditors, mentoring team members, or refining financial controls and processes to uplift capability across the function.
No two days look the same, but every day you’ll be contributing to work that strengthens our financial foundation and supports our network and the communities we serve.
The work you will lead and shape
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Create: Enhance financial controls, reporting frameworks, and internal policies.
- Collaborate: Work closely with leaders, auditors, and cross‑functional teams to deliver timely and accurate financial outcomes.
- Challenge: Analyse results, test assumptions, identify financial impacts and highlight risks or opportunities.
- Deliver: Own key elements of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting cycles, ensuring high‑quality insights and compliance.
- Support: Mentor finance team members and provide clear, practical financial guidance.
You will also:
- Lead preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including variance analysis and commentary.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting in partnership with business stakeholders.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision‑making, investments and performance improvement.
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, tax obligations and financial regulations.
- Develop and enhance financial controls, processes and procedures.
- Support internal and external audits through timely, accurate documentation and engagement.
- Liaise with Operations, M&A, Legal and external auditors.
- Contribute to strategic planning, financial modelling and commercial evaluation.
- Support impairment assessments, M&A accounting memos and finance due diligence activities.
What you will bring
- CA/CPA qualified, with 2+ years’ experience in finance leadership or senior accounting roles.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
- Strong technical accounting capability and ability to apply accounting standards confidently.
- Experience in Big 4 or mid‑tier chartered firms (preferred).
- Proficiency in Excel, financial systems and ERP tools such as SAP.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement capability with the ability to influence non‑financial audiences.
- High attention to detail, strong organisation skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
