About you:

Reporting to the Senior Indigenous Affairs Advisor as part of a broader stakeholder engagement team working on lands and waters across regional Queensland, you will ensure Sunwater is delivering on its First Nations Commitment Statement at the project and operational activities level.

Specifically, you will:

  • Support Sunwater stakeholders to identify key issues, risks and opportunities with their cultural heritage and Native Title management and Traditional Owner engagement and advise on appropriate processes and activities to manage risks and leverage opportunities.
  • Support the development and implementation of initiatives that build the cultural capabilities amongst project and operational teams.
  • Develop documents, processes and training materials that supports the business in developing enduring relationships with Traditional Owners more consistently and effectively.
  • Provide support to deliver specific actions under Sunwater’s Reconciliation Action Plan and be part of related working groups.
  • Coordinate and work with embedded project resources to ensure consistency of approach and support for the respect, recognition and participation of First Nations peoples and cultures.
  • Contribute to communication and advocacy materials for stakeholders including shareholding Ministers, government agencies and within the regional communities in which Sunwater operates.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in related field
  • Experience in a similar role or field
  • Experience with engagement and managing Native Title and Cultural Heritage matters
  • Ability to build relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Ability to build solid internal relationships and develop the capability of others
  • Highly developed knowledge and understanding Indigenous Affairs legislation.
  • Highly developed skills in Facilitating effective Native title and Cultural Heritage management outcomes.
