We're leading Western Australians to their intelligent energy future.

And we want you to be part of it.

You might know us as Western Australia's largest electricity generator and energy retailer, supporting 1.2 million customers across the state.

But what you might not know, is that we’re investing in renewable energy projects, including wind farms and big batteries, to help build a more sustainable and reliable future.

Our big batteries are now live in Kwinana and Collie, we’re expanding the Warradarge Wind Farm, building the new King Rocks Wind Farm, and we have many other projects in the works.

We're a purpose-driven organisation, owned by the people of WA. Our commitment is to ensure all Western Australians have access to secure, reliable, and sustainable energy.

We believe that the benefits of renewable energy aren’t just for some, they're for everyone.

This is where you come in.

Role Description:

The Program Assurance Business Partner positions are newly created 18‑month max‑term contract opportunities within our Assurance and Compliance team, based at our Perth Central Park office. These roles support the Customer Safeguard Program, a significant enterprise-wide initiative focused on strengthening customer-centric and governance-led practices across Synergy.

Working closely with the Customer Safeguard Program team and stakeholders across the business, these roles help build confidence in how governance, risk and assurance are embedded throughout program delivery. Operating within the General Counsel and Governance function, the positions partner with risk, assurance and compliance teams to support effective oversight and continuous improvement.

Operating as part of the second line of defence, these roles support the application of Synergy’s risk, control and assurance frameworks in line with the Three Lines Model, while maintaining a strong, collaborative partnership with first-line program teams. While the roles have no direct reports, they offer significant opportunity to influence outcomes through insight, challenge and strong business partnering, with exposure to senior stakeholders and enterprise-level decision‑making.

Job responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Customer Safeguard Program to establish, maintain and continuously improve clear governance, risk, control and assurance arrangements across program delivery.
  • Identify and assess material program risks, key controls and regulatory exposures, ensuring appropriate oversight within the Three Lines Model.
  • Design, deliver and support independent second‑line assurance and control validation activities.
  • Uplift first‑line assurance capability through practical guidance, training and consistent standards, including quality assurance processes, documentation, evidence and governance requirements.
  • Provide clear, actionable assurance insights, reporting and advice to program and senior business stakeholders.

What you will bring:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in internal audit, assurance or risk management roles, ideally within complex or regulated environments.
  • A strong understanding of assurance and risk management practices, including application of the Three Lines Model.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and document processes, risks and controls in evolving business or program settings.
  • Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging senior and executive stakeholders.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Risk Management, Engineering or a related discipline (Preferred), combined with strong analytical thinking, resilience and commercial acumen.
