Now part of the SYSTRA Group, we continue our decades-long commitment to delivering high-quality technical expertise to our clients - proud to support the ambitious growth of a sustainable and resilient international company.

We partner with clients and stakeholders to challenge the status quo, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in engineering.

The Role
We are seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our team and support the delivery of infrastructure projects across a diverse portfolio of rail, transport, and civil works. This role is ideal for an early career engineer who is keen to develop technical capability in civil design and project delivery, with the opportunity to contribute to rail infrastructure projects including passenger rail, heavy haul, inland rail, and intermodal. Exposure to rail projects will be viewed favourably, but is not essential.

  • Support the delivery of civil engineering design and project outcomes across a range of infrastructure projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of design documentation, calculations, reports, and technical deliverables.
  • Contribute to civil design tasks relating to earthworks, drainage, stormwater, and associated infrastructure.
  • Assist in the coordination of design interfaces across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Support project delivery across rail, transport, and civil infrastructure environments.
  • Work under the guidance of experienced engineers and designers to develop practical and compliant engineering solutions.
  • Assist with technical investigations, assessments, and data analysis.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with project requirements, standards, and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to the delivery of project milestones and team objectives.
  • Continue building technical capability through on-the-job learning and professional development.

About You
You are a motivated Graduate Civil Engineer with a strong interest in infrastructure and a willingness to learn within a collaborative and technically focused consulting environment. You are looking to build your experience across civil design and project delivery, and you bring a positive attitude, sound technical foundations, and strong communication skills. Exposure to rail projects or rail infrastructure will be viewed favourably, but is not required.

  • A degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong interest in infrastructure, transport, and civil design.
  • Some exposure to civil engineering design principles, including earthworks, drainage, or stormwater, through study, placements, or early career experience.
  • Exposure to rail projects or rail infrastructure is desirable, but not essential.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach and a strong commitment to developing technical capability.
  • Familiarity with engineering design software would be advantageous.

  • What do we offer?

    • Flexible working arrangements to help achieve real work life balance.
    • Health and wellbeing support via a confidential Employee Assistance Program.
    • Competitive remuneration.
    • On-the-job coaching to help you be the best you can be, including leveraging BG&E's global network of experts to help you realise your professional development goals to grow your career at BG&E.
