The SYSTRA Bamser team is an integrated group of engineers with exceptional technical skills across the civil, tunnelling, and trenchless technology sectors. The opportunity
Reporting to the Trenchless Divisional Manager in our Brisbane office, the HDD Engineer/ Manager primary purpose is to manage horizontal directional drilling (HDD) works on site for the client/authority.
The HDD engineer/Manager provides expertise and excellence to support the delivery of projects for SYSTRA Bamser's clients. They will continue to develop their competence and capability through industry engagement, education, and technical documentation, and will provide support to other Bamser staff, ensuring their continued growth and development. The HDD Engineer/Manager will be responsible for the effective coordination and control of project services for a designated project through activities of technical, engineering, inspection, scheduling, planning, survey, procurement, and quality control based on Bamser's standards. They will be responsible for providing high quality support for clients' projects, working with the manager to find the appropriate outcomes and provide cost efficiencies.
About You
- Degree qualified Engineer with good experience in with the delivery of Trenchless works on site.
- Extensive experience in management of Trenchless works on site with either a contractor/ consultant or client organisation.
- Preferred experience with water projects, microtunnelling, or HDD projects.
- Significant experience with Horizontal Directional Drilling.
- Based in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne.
- Willing to work, if required, in FIFO arrangement on a suitable roster.

- Have experience in the management of Trenchless Works onsite from either a Client or Contractors perspective.
- Have good grounding experience in Horizontal Directional Drilling.
- Work with clients to ensure that their expectations are met.
- Avoid errors and reduce financial risk during construction.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Further experience with other trenchless techniques well regarded.
- Experience with Trenchless feasibility, constructability and design well regarded.
- Ability to write reports well regarded.
- Good computer skills and good experience with Microsoft suit of software.
