The Role

In this role, you will lead temporary works engineering, advise on construction methodologies and sequencing, and provide technical oversight from concept through delivery. You'll collaborate with project teams and stakeholders, ensure quality and compliance, and apply sound project management to achieve safe, timely outcomes. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the design and documentation of temporary works including formwork, falsework, shoring, propping, crane bases, and access platforms
  • Develop and advise on construction methodologies and sequencing plans in consultation with site teams and contractors
  • Undertake detailed analysis and structural design to ensure safety, compliance, and constructability
  • Assess the behaviour and performance of materials under construction-stage conditions
  • Prepare and review concept, schematic, and detailed temporary works designs
  • Conduct site visits to perform inspections, support construction teams, and provide engineering guidance
  • Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and consultants to deliver coordinated solutions
  • Review technical reports, drawings, and design calculations for quality and accuracy
  • Liaise with colleagues across our Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, and other office locations to support cross-functional delivery
  • Contribute to the preparation of high-quality construction and temporary works documentation
  • Leverage your existing connections within the industry to help find opportunities and grow our business
  • Prepare / Assist with the tendering and winning of work
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and other project stakeholders as required for the delivery of projects
  • Apply project management principles in carrying out assigned tasks and accomplish project deliverables to the required standard and in a timely manner


About You

You are a seasoned structural engineer with deep temporary works and construction engineering experience, strong technical judgment, and a practical, site-focused mindset. You bring proficiency with Australian standards and analysis tools, clear documentation and communication, and a collaborative approach that builds trusted relationships and delivers safe, buildable solutions. You would ideally have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 7 to 15 years of experience in structural engineering, with a strong focus on temporary works and construction engineering
  • Solid understanding of Australian standards and construction safety principles
  • Skilled in structural analysis software and able to produce clear, accurate documentation
  • Proven experience in developing practical, buildable solutions under site constraints
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, particularly with site teams and contractors
  • A proactive, hands-on approach to solving engineering challenges
  • Have positive professional relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders in South Australia or proven experience in growing such relationships in another
