About the Role
To support the ongoing expansion of our Greenbushes Lithium Operation, an opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified Work Health & Safety (WHS) Superintendent - Health & Hygiene, reporting to our Manager - WHS. This position is of crucial importance to Talison and a great opportunity for skills, experience, and influence to be applied to support the delivery of our strategic priorities.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across occupational health, hygiene, radiation safety and fitness for work, while leading a team of health professionals to drive a proactive health culture across the Greenbushes Operation. Working with operational leaders, specialist providers and government agencies, you will play a key role in ensuring health hazards are well understood and effectively controlled.
This role is based at our Greenbushes operation on a residential 5:2 roster. Flexible work arrangements are available, and the successful candidate will be provided with company housing (where required) and a company vehicle for work purposes.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of health and hygiene professionals to foster a positive work environment that delivers quality outcomes for operational customers;
- Coaching direct and indirect reports to actively identify areas for individual and team-based learning and development;
- Developing and maintaining productive relationships with key stakeholders such as operational leaders, medical providers and government bodies;
- Developing, implementing and governing strategic health and hygiene plans, including exposure monitoring, health surveillance and radiation safety;
- Leading fitness for work, fatigue, psychosocial risk and injury management programs;
- Interpreting exposure and biological monitoring data to drive control improvement; and
- Preparation and monitoring of budgets including cost management.
About the Candidate:
The following qualification/s and competencies are considered desirable for this position:
- Tertiary qualifications in occupational hygiene, occupational health or a related discipline (minimum).
- AIOH Certified Occupational Hygienist status will be highly regarded.
The incumbent should have skills and/or experience in:
- A minimum of five years' experience in a senior health or hygiene leadership role within the mining or heavy industrial sector;
- Designing and managing exposure monitoring and health surveillance programs;
- Building productive working relationships by developing and using collaborative approaches to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals and objectives; and
- Demonstrated experience leading high-performing teams and influencing health culture across complex operational environments.
