We facilitate the transfer of electricity between Victoria and Tasmania via Basslink, the sub-sea electricity interconnector. We also provide telecommunications and technology services.

Help shape smarter procurement at TasNetworks
TasNetworks is looking for a capable and customer focused Purchasing Officer to join our Supply Chain team and deliver efficient, compliant and value-driven procurement outcomes across the business.
This role is ideal for someone who understands contemporary procurement, enjoys working with stakeholders and systems, and is motivated by continuous improvement. You’ll support day-to-day purchasing while helping uplift procurement capability and optimise SAP processes across the organisation.
You’ll provide high-quality procurement support to internal customers and the Supply Chain team, ensuring purchasing activities are efficient, compliant and aligned with TasNetworks’ policies and probity requirements.
You’ll work across purchasing, approaches to market, compliance, reporting and process improvement, while providing guidance on SAP best practice and helping translate business requirements into practical procurement solutions.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate purchasing requests to meet business requirements for goods and services.
- Support compliance with Procurement policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Provide timely, high-quality procurement advice and support to internal customers and the Supply Chain team.
- Contribute expertise to the optimisation and continuous improvement of SAP and procurement solutions.
- Provide guidance on SAP and procurement best practice to stakeholders across the business.
- Promote procurement excellence while maintaining the highest standards of probity, integrity and transparency.
- Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements and other priorities as required.
About you
About you
You’re an experienced procurement professional with strong technical capability and a practical, customer-focused approach. You can manage competing priorities, navigate complex policies and build trusted relationships across the business.
You’ll bring:
- Sound knowledge and experience applying contemporary procurement best practice, ideally in a government, infrastructure or regulated environment.
- Strong capability with SAP, SAP Ariba and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong written communication and the ability to interpret complex policies, procedures and reports.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and communicate timelines, progress and impacts effectively.
- Experience interpreting technical information and translating it into clear advice for stakeholders.
- A strong commitment to procurement probity, integrity and ethical practice.
- Flexibility, adaptability and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.
