We own, operate and maintain the electricity transmission and distribution network in Tasmania. We deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable electricity supply to more than 295,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. We facilitate the transfer of electricity between Victoria and Tasmania via Basslink, the sub-sea electricity interconnector. We also provide telecommunications and technology services.
About the role
Band 2 – Salary from $80,974 plus Super
Have you previously worked within the telecommunications industry? Perhaps you are an electrician, or you have a passion for learning and understanding Electronics.
We have a new and exciting opportunity for an individual to join our high performing Telco team as a Trainee Telco Technical Officer. The training component is self-paced with a maximum of 2 years, moving into a permanent skilled team member once training has been completed.
During the 2-year traineeship, ACMA cabling license and various Trade/equipment specific training, will be completed. You will receive ample on the job opportunities through guidance and support from team members and leaders, exposing you to the elements of performing regular preventative maintenance of operational network equipment, supporting the installation and commissioning of local projects and assisting in maintaining operational, administrative and commercial telecommunications equipment for customers in regional areas.
About you
To be successful for this traineeship, you will have a basic understanding and interest of utility or carrier telecommunications networks, coupled with basic knowledge in one or more of the following –
- Radio communications systems
- Optical communications systems
- IP and data networks
- Telephony and fibre optic installation and testing
Upholding and remaining committed to a safe working environment and the ability to follow policies and procedures is critical to the success of this traineeship.
There will be a need to climb towers, requiring the successful candidate to be physically fit and pass a pre-employment medical.
