We deliver power to Tasmanians. Our vision is to be trusted by our customers to deliver today and create a better tomorrow.

We own, operate and maintain the electricity transmission and distribution network in Tasmania. We deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable electricity supply to more than 295,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. We facilitate the transfer of electricity between Victoria and Tasmania via Basslink, the sub-sea electricity interconnector. We also provide telecommunications and technology services.

About the role

Base salary from $105,807 per annum + Super, Overtime and On-Call

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our newly formed Streetlight Crew. This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical electricity infrastructure, helping deliver safe, reliable services to communities across Tasmania while building a rewarding long-term career.

We're seeking a motivated, safety-focused electrician who takes pride in delivering quality work, solving problems and contributing to a positive team culture.

As part of our Streetlight Crew, you'll play a key role in maintaining, inspecting and fault-finding on Tasmania's streetlighting network, helping ensure the ongoing safety, reliability and performance of these community assets.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver safe, efficient and high-quality electrical work that meets customer expectations and timeframes.
  • Perform inspection, maintenance, repair and construction activities on streetlighting and associated electrical assets.
  • Conduct testing, commissioning and fault-finding activities to identify and resolve network and asset issues.
  • Support Program of Work (PoW) activities including defect rectification customer requests and fault response.
  • Participate in an on-call roster, responding to faults, assessing asset conditions and undertaking repairs to restore network reliability.

About you

To be successful in this role you will be a trade qualified Electrician (Cert III in Electrotechnology) and hold a Tasmanian Electrical Practitioners Licence. You'll bring a strong commitment to safety, quality and customer service, along with the ability to identify practical solutions and deliver outcomes in a dynamic field-based environment.

This, combined with your proven ability to determine the most effective and efficient way to achieve results whilst focusing on continuous improvement is key to joining a high performing team.

You’ll also bring:

  • HRW licences (DG, WP, CV) and MR/HR licence – desirable.
  • A focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and solve problems.
  • Motivation to grow, learn and step into new challenges.

If you’re looking to play a key part in ‘keeping the lights on’ across our beautiful State, please reach out or submit your application today!

What's on offer

This is a permanent full-time opportunity based out of our Rocherlea Depot, offering an attractive remuneration and benefits package.

At TasNetworks we want to power a bright future for our people, our community and our customers. We offer a supportive work environment where safety is at the heart of everything we do.
