We facilitate the transfer of electricity between Victoria and Tasmania via Basslink, the sub-sea electricity interconnector. We also provide telecommunications and technology services.
About the role
Base salary from $140,000 per annum (plus super) - total package to be negotiated with preferred candidate based on skills and experience
As a Planning Specialist, you will play a critical role in shaping how maintenance, capital and customer-driven programs are planned and delivered across TasNetworks' Electrical Distribution Network.
Drawing on your understanding of network operations, you'll act as the key link between field delivery teams, operational crews, asset management and program planning functions. Your expertise will help ensure work programs are practical, achievable and aligned to network access opportunities, outage requirements, resource availability and customer needs.
Working closely with planning, design, field operations, work group coordinators and asset management teams, you will develop and maintain a rolling 12-month delivery plan that balances network risk, customer expectations and operational priorities. Your work will directly influence how resources are allocated, outages are coordinated and programs are sequenced to support the safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of works across the network.
Responsibilities also include:
- Optimise work packages, resource allocation and delivery schedules to maximise productivity while meeting safety, budget and performance objectives.
- Assess competing priorities, operational constraints and network risks to support informed planning decisions.
- Coordinate the planning and execution of complex maintenance, capital and customer-driven programs with operational and technical teams.
- Use enterprise systems, geospatial technologies and planning data to monitor performance, identify risks and improve delivery outcomes.
About you
You bring practical experience from an electrical distribution network environment and understand the complexities of delivering maintenance, construction and customer works, safely and efficiently. Whether your background is in field operations, work coordination, network planning, supervision or project delivery, you can combine operational knowledge with forward planning to develop practical and achievable delivery schedules.
You are known for your ability to build strong working relationships across crews, technical specialists and business teams, and for making sound decisions in complex and dynamic environments. Your planning approach is collaborative, risk-aware and focused on achieving safe, efficient and customer-focused outcomes.
You’ll bring:
- Qualifications in project management, business systems or a related discipline, or equivalent practical industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience within an electrical distribution network environment.
- Strong understanding of electricity network construction, maintenance, outage planning, resource coordination and operational delivery.
- Proven success managing complex, high-risk work programs and competing priorities.
- Well-developed analytical and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate complex data into practical planning outcomes.
- Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems, Power BI, Microsoft applications and geospatial technologies is desirable.
