About the role
Shape the Future of Energy in Tasmania
At TasNetworks, we're transforming how technology, information and digital services support the delivery of safe, reliable and sustainable energy for Tasmanians. We're seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect, you will help set and maintain the enterprise architecture direction that connects our business strategy, capabilities and technology investment.
Working with senior leaders, business partners and technical specialists, you will develop target states and practical roadmaps that guide change, strengthen resilience and deliver long-term value. Your independent advice will inform portfolio priorities and significant investment decisions, helping ensure individual initiatives contribute to a coherent enterprise direction.
This is a senior specialist role with enterprise-wide influence. You will provide professional direction through expertise, collaboration and architecture governance, working closely with Solution Architects and the accountable operational technology and cybersecurity specialists.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture strategy, principles, standards, target states and prioritised roadmaps, progressing them through the appropriate endorsement pathways.
- Provide independent advice that informs enterprise planning, portfolio prioritisation, business cases, material procurement and technology investment.
- Assess business capabilities and the information, application and technology landscape to identify strategic risks, dependencies, lifecycle priorities and opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate architecture reviews and recommendations through the Architecture Review Group (ARG), supporting clear decisions, consistent standards and documented exceptions within agreed authority.
- Provide enterprise-level architecture direction and assurance for significant initiatives, collaborating with Solution Architects and specialist teams to align solutions with endorsed roadmaps and requirements.
- Advance opportunities to simplify the technology landscape, reduce duplication and technical debt, improve resilience and reuse, and strengthen architecture knowledge and practices.
About you
You are an experienced architecture professional who sees the enterprise picture and turns strategic objectives into practical direction. You can make sense of complex, sometimes incomplete information and explain the choices needed to move forward.
You build credibility with senior leaders and technical teams alike, balancing different needs while constructively challenging approaches that do not support long-term outcomes. You lead through expertise and positive relationships, bringing clarity to difficult decisions without relying on formal line-management authority.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in information technology, engineering, information systems, business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in enterprise architecture, domain architecture, technology strategy or a comparable senior role within a complex enterprise environment.
- Experience developing enterprise architecture strategies, capability models, target states, reference architectures and multi-year transition roadmaps.
- Broad knowledge across business processes, information and data, applications, integration, cloud and hybrid platforms, cybersecurity and technology lifecycles.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate strategic options and provide evidence-based recommendations that influence investment, portfolio, procurement and technology decisions.
- Strong analytical, communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to build alignment and explain complex options and trade-offs to varied audiences.
Experience in utilities, critical infrastructure or similarly complex regulated environments, and relevant enterprise architecture certification such as TOGAF, would be highly regarded.
