We own, operate and maintain the electricity transmission and distribution network in Tasmania. We deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable electricity supply to more than 295,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. We facilitate the transfer of electricity between Victoria and Tasmania via Basslink, the sub-sea electricity interconnector. We also provide telecommunications and technology services.
About the role
As Environment and Sustainability Specialist you will be part of a team that positively contributes to lifting TasNetwork’s environmental maturity.
The Environment and Sustainability Team provide a critical service to the business; advising, assisting and supporting the business to meet our environmental responsibilities and to achieve our environment and sustainability goal of minimising the impact of our activities on environmental and cultural heritage values.
Working collaboratively across the business, there will be opportunities to lead and be involved in a range of initiatives such as; enhancing our environmental management system, undertaking an environmental assurance program, supporting capital works projects, sustainability initiatives, incident response and developing and delivering environmental training.

About you
A tertiary qualification in environmental management (or equivalent) with experience working in the environmental management field will be key to fulfilling this role.
You will have a broad understanding of environmental management, and a sound understanding of environmental legislation. By having sound judgement, pragmatism, problem solving skills and understanding of a risk based approach, you will provide high quality advice and support to the business.
You will be able to provide environmental advice and support that is underpinned by sound judgement, pragmatism, a risk-based approach and problem solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills enable you to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will drive positive change as part of a small team.
