We own, operate and maintain the electricity transmission and distribution network in Tasmania. We deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable electricity supply to more than 295,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. We facilitate the transfer of electricity between Victoria and Tasmania via Basslink, the sub-sea electricity interconnector. We also provide telecommunications and technology services.
About the role
Here at TasNetworks we are looking to grow local talent within our energy sector by offering a state-based opportunity for our upcoming 2024 Apprentice Intake
As an Apprentice Distribution Overhead Lineworker you will be signed up to a 4-year apprenticeship where we will mentor and support you through a range of different practical and theoretical activities. You will be given the opportunity to undertake tasks such as maintaining power poles and wires, installing aerial equipment, emergency response work, investigating power supply problems, fault finding and much more.
During the apprenticeship you will gain experience across various depots within your region and training predominately delivered at our dedicated registered training centre located at Mornington.
Once qualified we at TasNetworks will maintain your qualifications and put you into a role that aligns with your certificate. A Distribution Lineworker works at the heart of our business; they install, repair and maintain the overhead and underground power network that supplies electricity to our customers.

About you
We are on the lookout for enthusiastic and driven apprentice Lineworkers, passionate about the industry, to join the team here at TasNetworks. If you are seeking a new and rewarding opportunity to build a career within the energy and power industry, then this might be the role for you!
To "line" up to our Apprentice Program, applicants must; have the ability to work towards completion of UET30621 Certificate III in ESI - Distribution Overhead, adhere to health, safety and environment practices in the workplace, possess strong communication skills and be able to build positive relationship, be physically fit and able to pass a medical examination and hold a current manual drivers' licence, have completed Year 12 and passed Maths, English and preferably a Science subject, OR completed pre-vocational studies in Certificate II in Electrotechnology (or equivalent), OR have relevant work experience.
