final salary offering to be discussed with the preferred candidate based on skills and experience
We are seeking a Data Security & Information Protection Advisor to play a key role in protecting sensitive information and strengthening the organisation’s information security and cyber security maturity.
In this role, you will own and evolve our information classification and security standards, helping to translate policy into practical, organisation-wide protections. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business to embed good information-handling practices and build a strong, sustainable culture of security awareness.
You will monitor and uplift compliance through governance and assurance activities, supported by modern data protection capabilities such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Data Security Posture Management (DSPM). You’ll also support data loss investigations and incident response, and stay informed on emerging threats, regulatory requirements and industry trends that affect how information is protected.
This role also contributes to audits, gap assessments, training and awareness initiatives, helping to continuously improve how the organisation safeguards its information assets and builds resilience in a regulated, critical-infrastructure environment.
About you
First and foremost; you will possess strong interpersonal skills, as this is a client facing role.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience of at least two years in an information security, information management, governance, risk or compliance role. You will have a sound understanding of information security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001 and NIST, and ideally be familiar with information classification and data protection technologies including DLP and DPSM. You will bring strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build security awareness across the business. You will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance technical, compliance and business perspectives while fostering effective teamwork and collaboration.
Desirable:
- Qualifications in Cyber Security, Information Management, Information Governance, Risk Management, Privacy, Records Management, or a related discipline.
- Experience applying information security governance frameworks (e.g. ISO/IEC 27001) with a focus on policy development, standards ownership and assurance, rather than security operations.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing or operating data classification, data protection or information governance frameworks within a regulated environment.
- Experience working within critical infrastructure or other highly regulated industries.
