We own, operate and maintain the electricity transmission and distribution network in Tasmania. We deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable electricity supply to more than 295,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. We facilitate the transfer of electricity between Victoria and Tasmania via Basslink, the sub-sea electricity interconnector. We also provide telecommunications and technology services.
About the role
Band 5 - base salary from $121,231 per annum (plus super) - total package to be negotiated with preferred candidate based on skills and experience
We’re seeking a Planning Specialist to lead the works management of all maintenance and internally delivered construction activities across the Tasmanian transmission electricity system. This is a specialist role that brings together technical expertise, commercial insight and strong stakeholder engagement to enable safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery by our Field Operations teams.
In this role, you’ll develop and maintain a risk-balanced, rolling 12–18 month transmission works delivery plan, ensuring work is practical, deliverable and aligned to business, regulatory and customer requirements. You’ll work closely with customer-facing teams, outage management, asset managers, project managers and the Program Office to coordinate and optimise delivery across the portfolio.
As a Planning Specialist you will use SAP, IFS and geospatial tools to create practical, fit-for-purpose work packages, and drive continuous improvement in works planning processes and systems.
About you
You’ll be a transmission network specialist with strong project or planning capability, able to manage complex, high-risk portfolios in a regulated environment.
You’ll have:
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, business or project management, or significant equivalent experience
- Strong technical knowledge of transmission network design, construction, maintenance and operations across lines, substations and protection assets
- Proven experience managing large maintenance or construction portfolios (up to ~$100m p.a.)
- Sound commercial acumen and a strong understanding of risk management
- Advanced capability using ERP systems (SAP or equivalent), geospatial tools and complex data sets
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma or similar)
- Resilience, adaptability and a commitment to ongoing learning
You’ll play a key role in enabling the safe, reliable delivery of Tasmania’s transmission network while working with passionate experts in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.
