We own, operate and maintain the electricity transmission and distribution network in Tasmania. We deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable electricity supply to more than 295,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. We facilitate the transfer of electricity between Victoria and Tasmania via Basslink, the sub-sea electricity interconnector. We also provide telecommunications and technology services.

About the role

 

As the Leader Network Asset Data, you will lead a skilled team of professionals who are responsible for maintaining and enhancing the quality of network master data across GIS, CAD and asset information systems. You will ensure our Utility Network Model (UNM) and associated spatial and technical drawing data are accurate, timely and accessible to support network planning, outage management and operational decision-making.  You will work closely with asset owners, operations and digital to identify gaps and opportunities to improve data capture and data quality whilst translating costings, priorities, and value into a long-term plan to uplift asset data and build consensus to deliver.

This role is critical in enabling our network operations teams to safely manage assets, plan outages and maintain network reliability.

 

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to –

  • Lead and manage the Network Asset Data and Network Master Data teams to deliver high-quality customer service and technical outcomes
  • Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring and performance leadership
  • Ensure high-quality network asset data us captured and maintained within asset information and technical drawing systems
  • Act as the asset custodian for asset spatial data and technical drawings
  • Provide proposed asset data into the UNM in a timely manner to support switch writing within the NAO workflow
  • Lead and contribute to technical projects relating to network master data systems, standards and documentation
  • Provide expert and technical advice on strategies to improve access to asset information for internals teams, customers and stakeholders
  • Support organisational governance by maintaining robust data management practices and documentation

 

About you

 

You are a collaborative and technically capable leader who understands the critical role high-quality asset data plays in supporting safe and reliable network operations. You bring a strong understanding of asset information systems and enjoy leading teams that take pride in delivering accurate, reliable and accessible data.

You are comfortable working at the intersection of people leadership, technical systems and operational outcomes. You can translate complex technical information into clear guidance and are confident influencing stakeholders across the business.

You take a proactive approach to improving processes and systems, and you thrive in environments where priorities shift and continuous improvement is expected. Most importantly, you enjoy developing people—coaching your team to deliver quality outcomes while building their capability and engagement.

 

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A formal qualification in Data Management or at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of GIS, CAD and drawing management systems
  • A solid understanding of the network utilities sector and asset data management practices
  • Experience leading teams to deliver high-quality customer service and operational outcomes

 

You also demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prepare complex business documents such as business cases, proposals and change plans. You are confident managing competing priorities and leading teams through change in complex environments.
