The role
We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Cloud Technology Specialist to join our Network and Infrastructure team. This role is critical in supporting and optimising our Microsoft 365 and Azure environments, enabling the delivery of modern digital solutions aligned with TasPorts’ Digital Transformation Strategy.
As a subject matter expert, you will lead the implementation of contemporary cloud infrastructure, ensuring our platforms are secure, efficient, and scalable. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders to align cloud services with business needs, while also mentoring team members and contributing to strategic planning and innovation.
Key Duties
- Govern, manage, and maintain Microsoft 365 and Azure platforms, ensuring best practices in security, compliance, and user experience.
- Act as the escalation point for Microsoft 365 and Azure support issues.
- Provide expert advice on technical design and architecture for new digital initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage service levels and performance expectations.
- Lead training and documentation efforts for Microsoft 365 and Azure services.
- Coordinate enhancements, upgrades, and change management processes for cloud-based systems.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve cloud services and streamline IT workflows.
- Contribute to strategic cloud and platform roadmaps through engagement with stakeholders and industry networks.
- Manage vendor relationships and associated contracts to ensure optimal service delivery.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for Microsoft 365 and Azure services.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud environments, including configurations, procedures, and support materials.
- Perform other duties as required, aligned with your qualifications and experience.

What you will have
- Cloud Expertise: Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune) and strong knowledge of Azure technologies, including Azure AD, conditional access, and cloud security.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues and deliver high-quality support in a customer-focused environment.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to contribute to cloud strategy and roadmaps, aligning technology with business goals.
- Communication & Influence: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-Management: Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within set timeframes.
- Professionalism: A commitment to continuous improvement, confidentiality, and high standards of service delivery.
Qualifications / Licences
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent industry experience.
- 3–5 years’ experience administering enterprise IT solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration, Azure IaaS/PaaS, Intune, SharePoint Online, Teams, Exchange Online, and PowerShell scripting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Current unrestricted Tasmanian driver’s licence.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
Desirable
- Experience coordinating IT projects or support functions in complex environments.
- Industry certifications in Microsoft 365, Azure, and/or ITIL.
- Familiarity with DevOps, Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform), and automation tools.
- Understanding of identity and access management, cloud governance frameworks, and ITIL methodologies.
