The role
Join TasPorts’ Major Projects team as a Procurement and Contracts Specialist, where you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering efficient, effective, and compliant procurement and contract management. This position is responsible for leading tendering and procurement activities, providing commercial advice during negotiations, and ensuring robust governance and administration of contracts. Your expertise will help achieve value-for-money outcomes while supporting safe and timely delivery of major projects. This is a 2 year fixed term role.
Key Duties
- Lead and manage tendering and procurement activities in line with TasPorts and Tasmanian Government policies.
- Provide specialist commercial advice during contract negotiations and finalisation.
- Establish and manage general services contracts for Major Projects.
- Develop and maintain tailored contract management systems, templates, and documentation.
- Prepare internal approval documentation and ensure compliance throughout the procurement process.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand requirements, risks, and expectations.
- Review procurement policies and templates, recommend improvements, and implement agreed changes.
- Lead procurement evaluation activities, including market analysis, risk assessments, compliance audits, and cost-benefit analysis.
About you
You are a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of procurement and contract management principles. You thrive in a collaborative environment, can work autonomously, and have the confidence to provide expert advice to stakeholders. Your ability to negotiate, communicate effectively, and manage complex processes ensures successful outcomes for major projects.
What you will have
- Proven experience in procurement and contract management, ideally within government or major projects.
- Knowledge of Tasmanian Government procurement policies.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in procurement systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to identify process improvements and implement innovative solutions.
- Qualifications in Procurement and Contract Management.
- Current driver’s licence and ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
