The role

As a Senior Project Manager at TasPorts, you will lead the planning and delivery of major, high-value, and strategically important infrastructure projects. This role is critical to ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, while meeting stakeholder expectations and aligning with TasPorts’ strategic objectives. You will work closely with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to manage scope, schedule, risk, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. This is a permanent full-time role, based in either Devonport or Launceston.

Key Duties

  • Lead and manage project teams to deliver complex civil infrastructure projects.

  • Ensure all projects are executed in line with TasPorts Project Planning and Delivery Methodology (PPD).

  • Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and schedules, and monitor progress against these.

  • Identify, manage, and escalate project risks and issues promptly.

  • Oversee scope management and change control processes.

  • Prepare accurate and timely project reports and status updates.

  • Engage proactively with stakeholders to ensure project outcomes meet business and customer needs.

  • Support procurement planning and contract documentation.

  • Drive strong HSEQ performance and compliance across all project activities.

About you

You are an experienced project leader who thrives in complex, high-risk environments. You bring strong technical knowledge, commercial acumen, and exceptional stakeholder management skills. You are highly organised, solutions-focused, and able to make sound decisions under pressure. Your ability to communicate clearly and build strong relationshipswill be key to your success in this role.

What you will have

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in project management within civil construction or infrastructure.

  • Tertiary qualification in civil/structural engineering or a related discipline.

  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and manage multiple stakeholders.

  • Strong financial and commercial management skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.

  • Ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).

  • Desirable: Formal project management qualification (RegSPM), membership with AIPM, and experience delivering major infrastructure projects.
