The TasWater Summer Placement Program is a 12-week program where students gain exposure and work experience in the unique water and wastewater industry.
We have multiple Engineering positions for the 2023 program that runs from 13 November 2023 to 9 February 2024 in Hobart and Launceston.
There are a wide range of exciting projects and teams to work in. You may be extracting data to work on growth models, performing GIS mapping, examining water resource management, or completing feasibility studies. You'll have a dedicated mentor and make invaluable industry contacts.
The Summer Placement Program is a great first step to a career at TasWater - former student Matt shares his experience below:
Matthew Ziegeler, Project Manager (Year 1)
I started at TasWater as an placement student in November 2021 during
my third year of engineering at UTAS. I interned as a student engineer with the Project Delivery Group (PDG) and
at the end of my 12-week placement was invited to stay on part time during my
final year of my degree.
Once I graduated, I was lucky enough to be offered a permanent role as a trainee project manager with the PDG, which I accepted and have been in for nine months now. My role sees me manage the delivery of construction or upgrades of TasWater infrastructure as well as continuing with my education, as I am currently completing additional certificates and diplomas relevant to my role.
