The Opportunity

The TasWater Summer Placement Program is a 12-week program where students gain exposure and work experience in the unique water and wastewater industry.

We have an Accounting/Finance position for the 2023 program that runs from 13 November 2023 to 9 February 2024 in Hobart.

You will work within our Finance Team and perform asset accounting tasks, activity-based costing tasks, and work on budgets. You'll have a dedicated mentor and make invaluable industry contacts.

William Tomlin, Commercial and Reporting Officer

My placement journey began from the desire to want to apply my skills learnt from university. I began assessing options and discovered that TasWater were recruiting students in the Commercial space, something which aligned to my business studies.

Throughout my 3-month placement I was able to apply skills, understand the challenges and opportunities within a large government organisation providing a critical service to Tasmanians.

Out of this this experience I gained a lot of professional experience, developed new ways of thinking and new skills, putting me in good stead for the future and allowing me to grow. Following this, I was awarded a position within the commercial team where I have been for roughly six to seven months. I recommend applying for any advertised placement position at TasWater.

Your Application

To be eligible for the program, you must:

• Be a current undergraduate student in your second to last year of study in a Business, Finance or Accounting qualification (Masters students are not eligible for this program).
  
• Be able to work from 13 November 2023 to 9 February 2024 in Tasmania, and;
  
• Have working rights in Australia for this period.
