The Role
The Financial Planning and Analysis Lead plays a key role in supporting the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to deliver high-quality financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis across the organisation. This role is responsible for coordinating key planning and reporting deliverables, providing clear and actionable financial insights, and supporting the development and capability uplift of the FP&A team.
Working closely with business units, the FP&A Lead partners with stakeholders to enhance commercial decision-making and drive financial performance. The role also leads components of month-end processes and regulatory reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. In addition, the position contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, strengthening planning, reporting, and analytical processes to support organisational strategy and outcomes. Other key tasks include:
- Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans
- Consolidate inputs from across business units and provide analysis to management.
- Coordinate key planning and reporting deliverables, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to timelines.
- Partner with business units to improve financial understanding, performance outcomes, and commercial awareness.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial planning, reporting, and analysis processes, while mentoring and supporting development of the FP&A team.

What we're looking for
We are seeking a commercially minded and collaborative finance professional who can turn financial data into clear insights that support decision-making and business performance. You will bring strong experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, along with the ability to build effective relationships across the organisation.
You are detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes. You will also demonstrate leadership through mentoring others, contributing to a positive team culture, and driving continuous improvement in financial planning and reporting processes.
- Strong experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, with a forward-thinking approach that leads to results.
- Commercially and operationally astute, with the ability to translate financial data into clear insights to support business and strategic decision-making.
- Proven stakeholder engagement skills and a focus on seeking solutions that deliver the best outcomes for TasWater.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline – Accounting, Finance or Economics
- CPA/CA qualification or studying towards

The Details
This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of $131,265 - $145,850 (inclusive of superannuation), negotiable dependent on experience.
