Water Services Operator
As an experienced Water Services Operator in Longford, you’ll play an important role in operating and maintaining TasWater’s treatment facilities and network infrastructure. In this position, you’ll help ensure we meet regulatory and service standards, while sharing your knowledge, guiding newer team members, and contributing to a supportive and positive team culture.

Your day will involve:
- Operate, maintain, and care for water and sewage infrastructure to meet regulatory and corporate standards, including sampling, treatment, and assessing the condition of assets.
- Confidently use relevant technologies and tools, complete operational records, and carry out site-specific risk assessments to ensure safe and smooth daily operations.
- Support and guide team members with kindness and clear communication, while engaging respectfully with the community and colleagues.
- Prioritize the safety and wellbeing of yourself, your team, the community, and contractors, while embodying our values and ensuring compliance with all policies.
What we’re looking for:
- Bring relevant experience and/or qualifications in water operations, including trade experience or hands-on work in outdoor or physically demanding environments.
- Demonstrate proficient computer skills, especially in Microsoft applications, to efficiently manage data and support daily operational tasks.
- Provide compassionate leadership and hands-on training, empowering team members to develop their skills and work collaboratively.
- Communicate clearly and thoughtfully with colleagues and the community to build positive, respectful relationships.
- Ensure workplace health and safety compliance, holding a White Card and C Class Driver’s Licence to promote a safe and responsible working environment.
- Adapt physically and mentally to the role’s demands, confidently handling lifting, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions with professionalism and care.

The role:
- We are looking for 1 permanent full-time role in Longford that offers a 9-day fortnight and a total remuneration package ranging from $89,687.68 to $94,670.34 (including 15.5% superannuation). The package reflects an hourly rate starting at $38.84, with an increase to $41.00 following successful completion of probation.
- On call, call out and additional team specific allowances are available. You’ll need to complete a pre-employment medical before starting
- The role includes participation in on-call and planned overtime rosters, including responding to emergency callouts
- You’ll receive structured training in water operations and treatment through our training partners, along with ongoing coaching and mentoring from experienced team members
