The Role

The Contract Management Specialist provides expert advice on the negotiation, development, and management of complex contracts to ensure they are fit for purpose, commercially sound, and aligned with business needs. The role is responsible for overseeing the full contract lifecycle, supporting effective contract administration and supplier performance, and building strong relationships across supply chain, internal teams, and external stakeholders to enable successful outcomes.

  • Provide specialist contractual advice to stakeholders on complex contract formation, management, interpretation and administration matters and issues, ensuring commercial viability and governance requirements while effectively meeting the needs of the business
  • Support end to end contract lifecycle management including effective supplier performance management, ensuring contractual obligations and service levels are met
  • Act with integrity and adopt a forward-thinking approach, proactively identifying risks and opportunities to improve contract outcomes
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across supply chain, internal customers, and external stakeholders to support successful delivery outcomes
  • Maintain all contract management documentation and records in accordance with contractual requirements and TasWater governance frameworks and standards

What we're looking for

We are seeking a proactive and commercially astute Contract Management Specialist with strong experience across a range of contract types, from construction to IT and panel agreements. You will be a confident problem solver who can navigate complex issues, lead difficult conversations when required, and consistently deliver on commitments. With a high level of integrity, attention to detail, and stakeholder focus, you will communicate clearly, think ahead, and take a solutions-driven approach to support successful outcomes for the business.

  • Extensive experience and strong technical understanding of contract law, demonstrated through the successful management of a wide range of contracts, including construction and asset services, IT and software agreements, panel contracts, and framework arrangements.
  • Diploma or direct equivalent experience managing suppliers or contracts or a relevant discipline such as Business, Law, or Procurement / Supply Chain Management
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills, with the ability to take initiative and lead on complex contract issues, offering practical solutions and options
  • Confident in managing difficult conversations (e.g. contract changes, performance issues, or termination), with a professional and respectful approach
  • Energetic and people-focused, with a genuine desire to support others and contribute positively to team and organisational outcomes

The Details

This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of $131,265 - $145,850 (inclusive of superannuation), negotiable dependent on experience.
