About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Head of Legal to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will provide strategic and operational legal advice to Tennis Australia, Member Associations and related organisations, supporting Australian tennis’ broader objectives.
As a senior leader, you’ll work in close partnership with the Chief Legal Officer and collaborate with key decision-makers across the business. You’ll apply strong judgement, influence and negotiation skills to shape legal strategy and support a high-performing legal team.
In this role you will:
- Partner with senior stakeholders to provide trusted, commercially focused legal advice
- Lead and oversee all legal work aligned to a designated strategic pillar
- Provide legal advice, including contract negotiation, execution and implementation, delivering operational and tactical outcomes
- Drive continuous improvement across legal systems and processes, resolving complex issues and synthesising information from multiple sources
- Coordinate legal projects and provide clear reporting on matter progress, risks and outcomes
- Monitor and interpret relevant legislative and regulatory changes, advising the business and adapting practices accordingly
- Lead, mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 10+ years’ experience as a senior legal practitioner, with strong commercial law and dispute resolution expertise
- A track record on leading innovation, identifying and ceasing opportunities.
- Experience as a team leader
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills in both one-on-one and group settings
- A demonstrated solution-focused approach, highly developed project management skills and ability to influence outcomes in complex environments
- Qualifications as an Australian Legal Practitioner with an unrestricted right to practice law in Australia and hold (or be willing to obtain) a principal practicing certification
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
- Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements noting this role involves being part of the team that delivers major events
