Our Australian Munitions teams in Benalla and Mulwala produce propellants, explosives and munitions for defence and commercial uses. Join our team as an Environmental Advisor, where you'll play a vital role in shaping our commitment to sustainability! In this position, you will lead the planning and execution of evaluations while selecting and implementing best-in-class environmental techniques and procedures.
In this 12-month fixed term role, you'll collaborate closely with the HSE Manager and site management to drive impactful environmental projects focused on cleaner production and efficient waste management. Your expertise will guide fieldwork efforts and enable the analysis of crucial data, making a significant difference in our environmental initiatives.
Working at our Mulwala site on Pangerang land, your role purpose is –
Collect environmental samples to support site investigation activities.
Prepare analytical and interpretive reports for local management, regulatory authorities, and the community
Assist in investigating environmental incidents and preparing incident reports
Conduct internal inspections and audits to assess compliance with manufacturing activities
Provide guidance during incident clean-up, remediation, and waste disposal
Assist in the preparation and control of documents for the environmental management system, including maintaining and updating environmental performance databases
Develop and conduct environmental training programs as needed
Coach and mentor personnel to foster proactive improvements in processes, behaviours, and human factors related to safety, while continuously enhancing the safety management system
On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:
Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent industry knowledge and experience
Hands-on experience in a field-based role focused on chemical processes and their environmental impacts
Understanding of NSW, Victorian, and Commonwealth environmental legislation, or similar legislative frameworks
Proven experience analysing and aligning practices with environmental legislative requirements and industry best practice
Expertise in conducting investigations and developing technical reports
Exceptional communication skills, including proficiency in presentations and training sessions
Proficiency in analytical and problem-solving techniques
Must be eligible for an Australian defence clearance
