Our Thales Cyber Services team provides secure Communication solutions, information systems and cybersecurity services to support the work of defence and government clients. Our systems are designed to protect sensitive information from cyber threats, ensuring its security and integrity in critical environments.
Your role purpose will be to design network underlays and overlays connecting Guards and Gateways across hybrid fabrics and Google Distributed Cloud (GDC).
YOUR ROLE
Working in our offices on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country (Melbourne) or Ngunnawal/Ngambri Country (Canberra), you will work within a project delivery team, under the direction of the Project Design Authority, and perform across the following areas:
Design Zero-Trust networking and Kubernetes cluster networking within Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) workloads.
Design and integrate COTS firewalls into the GDC fabric, ensuring resilience, segmentation, and compliance with ISM, PSPF, and DSPF requirements.
Engineer resilient hybrid network underlays and overlays across GDC and on-premise environments.
Engineer Zero-Trust controls and Kubernetes networking patterns to support secure GDC workloads.
Develop CI/CD deployment patterns aligned with secure automation requirements.
Integrate physical and virtualised COTS firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet) into GDC workloads to meet accreditation and security standards.
Define routing, segmentation, and telemetry patterns supporting Guard and Gateway services.
Contribute network design inputs to project design reviews and accreditation activities.
YOUR EXPERIENCE:
On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:
Deep expertise in Google Distributed Cloud networking and hybrid cloud interconnect architectures.
Strong knowledge of Zero-Trust Networking principles, workload security patterns, and Kubernetes network design.
Proficiency in integrating physical and virtualised COTS firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet) into private cloud based-based solutions.
Experience delivering PSPF/DSPF SECRET-compliant network designs, incorporating FMN, ISM, and Zero-Trust controls.
Experience integrating edge protection technologies with software-defined networking patterns to support resilient, secure workload environments.
AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE ROLES & SECURITY
A Defence security clearance is required for this role; applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance. An NV1 clearance is preferable.
