The Thales Defence Mission Systems Domain is a leading provider of integrated mission solutions to surface ships and submarines and is the No.1 Naval fleet support and technical services company in Australia. It is
also a specialist in the upgrade of naval vessels providing systems and platforms integration capabilities.
The Integrated Product Team (IPT) Engineer will form part of the Engineering Support Team under the Scylla In-Service Support (ISS) contract for the Collins Class submarines. The IPT Engineer will perform engineering related tasks to maintain and support the Scylla sonars and associated equipment and systems.
Applicants must be Australian Citizens and be able to obtain and maintain security clearance to meet defence industry requirements.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As an Integrated Product Team Engineer, you are accountable for:
- Monitor, manage and process SIMS DMDRs, DAPs, MAPs, MCPsSIMS activities, Concessions and CCPs related to all SCYLLA products.
- Conduct Judgement of Significance (JoS) assessments Impact Assessments (IA) and Formal Risk Assessments based on the requirements of Navy Technical Regulations (N4 Library).
- Exercise Engineering Authority Level 3 for SIMS decisions related to Sonar and, Towed Array products
- Produce reports, reviews, assessments and other documentation related to SCYLLA and TA products.
- Perform engineering investigations and design analysis.
- Perform informal and formal testing for assigned tasks.
- Ensure all task documentation is controlled within the organisation’s configuration process.
- Ensuring the quality and configuration control of produced design, manufacturing and test data
- Providing technical advice to members of relevant teams, seeking Design Authority (DA) approval where required.
- Developing and maintaining clear plans for assigned work packages, including routine status reporting and revised estimates to complete.
- Updating and leading utilisation of visual management boards where applicable.
- Facilitating and driving the continuous improvement of Lean systems and processes within the Engineering group.
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
- IEAust recognised Engineering degree able to meet the requirements for Professional membership of Engineers Australia.
- Good knowledge of engineering design, verification and configuration processes.
- Must have a flexible attitude, willing to develop new skills and work as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English).
- Good initiative, self-management and planning skills
- Good knowledge of CSMP ILS and CCP policies, procedures and processes
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of, and experience with, sonar systems
- Experience with, or knowledge of, LEAN or other continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of and experience in the defence environment and military documentation standards
