Reporting to the Chief Controls & Enablement Officer, you will lead and manage the Controls team across The Star Entertainment Group (TSEG), including setting strategic direction and KPIs, optimise controls management performance and business operations. Deliver robust controls management solutions, harnessing automation to drive an increase in the efficacy of the control framework and execution efficiencies.
You will design, deliver and manage the controls library and register across TSEG and for each property, ensure maintenance of the register (including ongoing improvement and adherence to the Control Standard), the testing of controls on a risk-based approach and conduct frequent (on a risk weighted basis) Risk and Control Self Assessments and associated remediation actions (where appropriate).
Key responsibilities
- Provide transparent, timely and appropriate reporting on control activities to ensure TSEG, its officers and directors ae able to appropriately oversight the Group’s performance and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory obligations
- Influence the controls culture and develop in-house property capability through clear first-line Risk’s role as an enabler.
- Develop and maintain relevant internal and external stakeholder relationships, including law enforcement, regulators, and government stakeholders.
- Enable TSEG to meet all relevant regulatory compliance obligations, oversight the Group’s performance and continually improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Produce Board and Executive-level reporting on control management, the extent of controls coverage, and articulation of potential risk exposure arising from control gaps and deficiencies identified.
- Design, deliver and manage the Group’s controls library and register, with continual uplift, and adherence to regulatory expectations (state and federal).
- Lead and manage the Controls team, budget, operational performance, quality management, continual improvement in process efficiency and delivery

To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Undergraduate degree in a legal, commercial, or business field.
- Experience in advising and delivering solutions on control suitability for processes, including control design, implementation, and ongoing management.
- Direct experience leading a Controls and Compliance function in an Australian regulated designated business group and a deep understanding of the operational requirements of adhering to AUSTRAC’s expectations highly regarded.
- Experience leading large operational teams, building capability, improving engagement and general budget and people management.
- Previous executive management experience, responsible for operational functions in a highly regulated domain (preferably AML related).
- Previous executive management experience in the risk domain in a casino and/or gaming environment.
- Experience in customer due diligence, customer onboarding, AML transactional monitoring and other relevant financial crime risk operations experience highly regarded.
