The Star is in an exciting time of transformation, we are seeking to appoint a Head of Financial Crime Governance, Regulatory Engagement & Policy. This role will drive strategic approach to Financial Crime governance, including taking responsibility for Financial Crime Policy and Regulatory Engagement. This position will play a vital role in maintaining relationships with key external Financial Crime regulatory stakeholders and actively participate in attending Financial Crime industry related forums.

About your new role

Reporting to the General Manager Financial Crime, you will enjoy this varied and challenging role that will involve:

  • Maintaining an AML/CTF Strategy and Monitor Financial Crime regulatory change and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Lead the Financial Crime Policy, Regulatory Engagement, Governance and Intelligence teams.
  • Implement strategic regulatory and business change initiatives.
  • Engage with industry and regulatory stakeholders to maintain knowledge of current financial crime risk.
  • Ensure commitment to compliance with the AML/CTF Program
  • Develop and maintain a documentary architecture for financial crime, with responsibility for all AML/CTF Program documentation, version and change controls.
  • Develop and maintain the Financial Crime Governance framework.
  • Provide strategic direction on regulatory engagement for AUSTRAC/LEA requests or actions and coordinate responses.
  • Coordinate and submit Annual Compliance Reporting
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process enhancements and innovation
  • Utilising your deep understanding of AML/CTF legislation and regulations within the casino industry, to assist in the interpretation and implementation of obligations.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Extensive experience in a financial crime risk management, governance or strategic role in a casino / gaming environment, financial institution, corporation, or government agency.
  • Strong understanding of governance and stakeholder Management.
  • Experience in drafting policy, frameworks, and procedures.
  • Experience in design, implementation, and management of financial crime risk management processes
  • Tertiary studies in a subject which requires a high level of critical analysis and independent research is desirable, e.g. Auditing, Business, Law, Economics, Accounting.
  • Possess industry relevant Membership Associations and globally recognised Accreditations (e.g. ACAMS certification, ICA certification) is desirable.
  • A track record of timely project delivery in complex operating environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant statutory compliance and reporting requirements.
