We’re one of Australia’s largest privately owned, independent consultancy with an international footprint, and have been specialising in high-risk, large-scale and challenging projects since 1965.

TBH has been growing rapidly in Australia and internationally, but continues to be a connected, collaborative and supportive team. We have set our strategy looking ahead to 2030, to ensure we continue to meet the needs of clients and set ourselves up as a business for the future..

About the Opportunity

As our Senior Consultant – Cost & Claims, based in Sydney, you’ll play a key role in supporting TBH’s delivery of expert cost management and quantity surveying services across complex infrastructure, construction, and engineering projects. Working closely with senior consultants and industry specialists, you’ll contribute to a broad range of services, from cost planning and procurement to contract administration and claims analysis.

You’ll be involved in preparing detailed estimates, supporting cost reporting, validating progress claims, and assisting in the development of commercial submissions. This role also offers the opportunity to build capability in the claims and disputes space, where you’ll support the analysis of project variations, cost of delays, and time-related claims. Working across both live projects and retrospective reviews, you’ll develop a strong understanding of contractual frameworks and cost drivers across sectors such as buildings, infrastructure, and energy.

From day one, you’ll be embedded in project teams, contributing directly to client deliverables while sharpening your technical, analytical, and stakeholder management skills. You'll gain exposure to the commercial realities of major projects, with the chance to work on both live delivery and forensic analysis, building a strong foundation in cost management and insight into the drivers of complex claims.

As our Senior Consultant you’ll be responsible for;

  • Providing advice on delay mitigation strategies and corrective actions
  • Assisting in the preparation of feasibility cost plans, benchmarking, and early-stage financial modelling to support project decision-making
  • Supporting contract administration, including validation of progress claims, assessment of variations, and ensuring alignment with contractual obligations
  • Contributing to the preparation of detailed cost reports and budget tracking, delivering clear and data-driven insights to clients and senior stakeholders
  • Assisting with final account preparation, post-construction reconciliations, and cost close-out activities
  • Preparing procurement documentation, including tender schedules, pricing templates, and evaluation frameworks, and supporting tender assessment processes
  • Supporting the preparation of expert reports through analysis of project data, compilation of evidence, and development of clear, structured content
  • Assisting in the assessment of project delays and associated cost impacts, contributing to variation claims and dispute resolution processes
  • Providing technical input on contract and cost-related matters, supporting client advice on risk mitigation, procurement strategies, and commercial terms
  • Collaborating closely with senior team members to deliver high-quality, client-facing outputs across both live and retrospective assignments
  • Building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across infrastructure, building, and heavy civils sectors
  • Maintaining a high standard of accuracy and quality across all documentation and deliverables
  • What you’ll bring

As our successful candidate you'll bring:

    • 5-8 years’ Quantity Survey/ Contracts Admin / Commercial Manager
    • Knowledge of claims and disputes (high desirable)
    • Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction Law or equivalent
    • Demonstrated experience in report writing, analysing and preparing cost claims, and supporting senior leaders in expert reports.
    • Proven ability to develop accurate, end-to-end cost plans as well as managing and assessing claims from multiple perspectives.
    • Skilled in presenting complex cost or claims issues clearly and managing client expectations with strong stakeholder engagement.
    • Proven experience using software such as Power BI, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and CostX.
    • Experience in building, infrastructure, energy sectors (desirable)
    • Previous experience in a consultancy setting (preferred)
