About the Opportunity
As our Project Planner (Senior Consultant), specialising in Defence, you’ll join our Canberra team, working collaboratively with both client and TBH teams on the delivery of complex construction and infrastructure programs. With this opportunity being located in Canberra, relocation will be required for the successful candidate, with a relocation package offered.
As this role will support Australian Defence projects, this opportunity is open to Australian citizens only due to security clearance requirements.
In this role, you will bring your prior/strong planning and scheduling expertise and Defence project experience to lead the development, integration and management of project schedules across complex Defence and infrastructure programs. Drawing on your technical capability and understanding of Defence delivery environments, you will provide schedule assurance, analyse performance, identify delivery risks and support informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Working closely with clients, project teams and key stakeholders, you will develop and maintain integrated schedules, validate contractor programs, and provide clear reporting and schedule insights that drive successful project outcomes. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who combines strong technical capability with a collaborative approach, a commitment to quality, and a passion for mentoring others.
With TBH's growing Defence portfolio, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of Defence projects and programs, working across complex environments where planning excellence, stakeholder engagement and schedule integrity are critical.
As our Senior Consultant you’ll also be responsible for;
- Delivering planning, scheduling and project controls services across Defence projects and programs, ensuring schedules align with client objectives and key project milestones.
- Applying an understanding of Defence contracting environments and major project delivery frameworks to support effective planning and scheduling outcomes.
- Developing strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle through clear, professional, and consistent communication to enhance collaboration and project outcomes
- Providing mentorship and on-the-job guidance to junior team members
- Reviewing, interpreting and analysing data from multiple sources to provide meaningful insights that inform project leadership and stakeholder decision-making
- Managing the end-to-end preparation of client-facing deliverables—including detailed analysis, technical reports and presentation material—ensuring readiness to respond to client queries
- Preparing, maintaining, and analysing complex schedules , supported by clear reporting outputs tailored to stakeholder needs
What you’ll bring
As our successful candidate you'll bring:
- 5+ years’ relevant experience in planning and scheduling role(s).
- 2+ years of defence experience within industry and/or on projects
- Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Architecture, Business, IT or equivalent
- NV1 security clearance
- Proven maritime experience (highly desirable)
- Demonstrated experience with Major acquisition projects
- Demonstrated understanding of planning, scheduling and programming principles
- High level of skill using planning and scheduling software including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project , open plan professional (must), Cobra (desirable),
- Experience managing client needs and expectations, demonstrating strong communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and provide leadership in team management and support to junior employees
- A developed understanding of project management methods and applications; as well as project controls principles
- Previous experience in a consultancy setting is highly regarded
