About Transdev WA

Transdev WA is one of Perth’s largest bus operators, providing metropolitan bus services across Rockingham, Mandurah, Fremantle and Perth, including CAT, school and stadium services.

Our maintenance teams play a critical role in keeping our fleet safe, reliable, comfortable and available for the communities we serve. We are now seeking an experienced Automotive Air Conditioning Technician / Auto Electrician to support the servicing, diagnosis and repair of vehicle air-conditioning systems and associated auto electrical components across our bus fleet.

This is a great opportunity for a skilled technician who enjoys variety, takes pride in quality workmanship and wants a stable, long-term role with a respected public transport operator.

About the Role

This is a Perth-based role supporting Transdev WA’s vehicle maintenance operations across our depots. For the right candidate, a company vehicle may be supplied to support mobile work between depots.

You will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing and repairing automotive air-conditioning systems, HVAC components and related auto electrical systems across our operational bus fleet. The work is hands-on, varied and focused on keeping passenger vehicles safe, reliable and comfortable.

This role would suit an experienced vehicle A/C technician, automotive air-conditioning specialist, auto electrician or suitably qualified tradesperson with strong diagnostic ability and experience working on mobile plant, heavy vehicles, buses, trucks, light vehicles or fleet equipment.

What We Offer

  • Sponsorship/Nomination for applicants on 482 VISA (MUST BE IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA TO BE ELIGIBLE!) - Terms & Conditions apply.
  • Full-time, ongoing employment with a stable public transport operator
  • Perth-based role supporting multiple Transdev WA depots
  • Family-friendly roster with flexible work hours available
  • Company vehicle supplied for the right candidate to support mobile depot work
  • Competitive hourly rate or salary package based on skills and experience
  • Applicable overtime, penalties, allowances and superannuation
  • Variety of work across a large operational bus fleet
  • Supportive and safety-focused maintenance environment
  • Tools, uniforms and relevant equipment supplied where applicable
  • Training and development opportunities, including emerging fleet technologies
  • The opportunity to contribute to the safety, reliability and comfort of Perth’s public transport network

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Diagnosing and repairing vehicle air-conditioning and HVAC faults across Transdev WA’s bus fleet
  • Servicing and repairing compressors, condensers, evaporators, blowers, electrical circuits, belts, pulleys and refrigerant systems
  • Conducting pressure testing, leak detection, refrigerant recovery and re-gassing in line with ARCtick and environmental requirements
  • Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled servicing, repairs and component replacements
  • Diagnosing and repairing related auto electrical faults and auxiliary climate-control components
  • Performing temperature performance checks and verifying cooling and heating efficiency to operational standards
  • Supporting depot-based maintenance teams across Fremantle, Rockingham, Mandurah and Perth operations
  • Accurately recording maintenance work, faults, parts used and repair outcomes
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and professional work environment
  • Working efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety and reliability

About You

You will be a confident and capable technician who can work both independently and as part of a broader maintenance team. You will take pride in your workmanship, communicate clearly and understand the importance of keeping operational fleet vehicles available and roadworthy.

To be successful, you will ideally have:

  • Experience in automotive air-conditioning, vehicle HVAC, auto electrical or fleet maintenance
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
  • Experience repairing and servicing vehicle A/C systems
  • Knowledge of refrigeration components and system operation
  • Ability to work across buses, heavy vehicles, light vehicles or similar fleet equipment
  • High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance and environmental requirements
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with workshop teams across multiple sites
  • Ability to work unsupervised and manage mobile work between depots where required

Essential Requirements

  • Recognised automotive, auto electrical, refrigeration/HVAC or relevant trade qualification
  • Current ARCtick refrigerant handling licence or the ability to obtain/maintain required licensing
  • Current WA driver’s licence
  • Full legal working rights in Australia appropriate for this role
  • Ability to pass Transdev WA’s pre-employment checks, which may include medical, drug and alcohol screening, police check, work rights verification and driving history checks

Highly Regarded

  • Auto electrical trade background
  • Experience with buses, trucks, heavy vehicles, fleet vehicles or mobile plant
  • Experience with HVAC systems in passenger transport or commercial vehicles
  • HR licence or willingness to obtain one
  • Experience using diagnostic tools, multimeters and maintenance systems
  • Exposure to electric, hybrid or emerging vehicle technologies
