Your impact


As a Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety, reliability and performance of our bus fleet. Working within a supportive and skilled maintenance team, you'll be responsible for servicing, repairing and troubleshooting our vehicles to ensure they remain roadworthy and available to serve our customers. You'll also have the opportunity to be part of our transition to electric vehicle technology and help shape the future of sustainable public transport. This is a full-time position based at our Randwick Depot, offering an attractive hourly rate of $46.7505 per hour (inclusive of industry allowance) + shift allowances, overtime opportunities, a monthly RDO and free public transport across Sydney.


What you will do

Repair, service and maintain buses in accordance with regulatory and fleet standards.

Diagnose and repair vehicle faults and defects.

Conduct road tests following repairs and maintenance activities.

Attend vehicle breakdowns both on-site and in the field when required.

Complete maintenance records accurately using computer-based systems.

Support and assist in the training and development of apprentices and trade assistants.

Work collaboratively within a safety-focused team environment.

Contribute to fleet reliability and operational performance through proactive maintenance practices.


What you bring

Experience & Qualifications

Current NSW MVTC Motor Mechanic Trade Certificate (essential).

TAFE Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (essential).

Current HR Driver Licence, or the ability to obtain one.

Strong computer literacy and ability to maintain accurate maintenance records.

Experience supervising or mentoring apprentices and trade assistants.

Experience using diagnostic scan tools (desirable).

Experience in bus maintenance and public transport operations (desirable).

Enthusiasm for learning and developing new technical skills, including EV technology.


What's in it for you?

Total remuneration package $103,464.48 (inclusive of superannuation)

Additional payments for shift allowance and overtime

EBA pay increases scheduled for January 2027 and January 2028.

Monthly rostered day off (RDO), 4-5 weeks annual leave and regular paid overtime opportunities.

Uniforms and tools supplied.

Complimentary staff Opal card for both work and personal travel across the Sydney public transport network.

Randwick Depot: free onsite parking and close proximity to the Randwick Racecourse Light Rail stop.

Bondi Junction Depot: 5 minute walk from Bondi Junction train station.

Free staff bus service from Central Station (departure times vary).

Ongoing training and development opportunities, including exposure to the latest electric vehicle technology.


Hours of work

Following an initial training period on day shift, you will move to a fortnightly rotating roster that includes weekend work.


Day Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm


Mid Shift: 10:30am - 7:00pm (15% shift allowance applies for the entire shift)


Afternoon Shift: 2:30pm - 11:00pm (15% shift allowance applies for the entire shift)
