What can I expect?

As a Customer Service Ambassador, you'll be at the forefront of providing exceptional service to our passengers. Stationed at Wellington Train Station, or outer stations from time to time, you'll be the friendly face that passengers rely on for assistance and information. From interacting with school groups to providing guidance during disruptions or major events, you'll be at the heart of ensuring a smooth and enjoyable journey for everyone. This role provides the eyes and ears to our Service Coordination Centre based at Wallaceville.

Your roster will be for an 80-hour fortnight with 8-hour shifts between Monday to Sunday on a rotating roster including evening and weekend work and a requirement with some shifts to start before, or finish after public transport hours.

Why join us?

We have a great team and we reward them accordingly! Our team enjoy their work and are proud of the important role they play every day as we connect Wellingtonians to work, school, home and play. As one of our team of dedicated Journey Makers you will be rewarded with highly competitive remuneration, opportunities for training and career progression, and a wide range of employee benefits. These include:

  • Employee discounted travel benefits

  • Training and development opportunities

  • The opportunity to work in a unique rail environment

  • A supportive team culture

Skills and experience

  • You will have great people skills and enjoy customer service! This is a busy role - you never know what questions or support our customers might need

  • You can pick up a conversation with anyone - you will have exceptional communication skills and enjoy interacting with a diverse range of individuals

  • Cash handling and reconciliation experience – previous experience handling cash, processing transactions and completing accurate daily reconciliations is preferred

  • You will have great problem-solving skills and a cool head under pressure - when something goes wrong, our customers look to us for help - your calm and empathetic nature will make all the difference

Ready to apply?

Please note all of our recruitment processes include medicals, drug & alcohol testing, MoJ checks, ACC checks, psychometric testing and reference checks. These positions require candidates to have permanent and unrestricted rights to work in New Zealand.

If you're ready to apply your expertise to this role, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and join our team of Journey Makers to be part of something bigger.

Applications close Sunday 01 November.
